Who am I and why should you listen to me???

All very valid questions. My name is Luann Abrams and I am an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer. But mainly I’m a mom struggling to meet all the demands of life, just like every other parent out there. I love fitness, but like so many others, I have a hard time always fitting in a workout with work, kid, husband, friends all vying for my attention. So I started working out with my kiddo. I’ve managed to create a little bit of extra time in my day by combining playing with my son and working out. This makes me a much happier, saner girl. I also feel great knowing that my son is learning healthy habits not just from me preaching, but from watching me and participating.

I think I have some good ideas to share with all of you, so that is what this blog is about.

I have been a life-long fitness buff, but I decided to pursue my formal fitness training when serendipity stepped in. On the same day, my own personal trainer and a new mom who I was helping get in shape suggested I would make a great personal trainer. At that moment (ok, actually, it took some convincing), I committed to becoming a knowledgeable and inspiring personal trainer.  I work with moms, dads, and kids to facilitate healthy and connected families. I am currently authoring a book showing busy moms how they can work out with their young child.

Before my fitness career, I was a rocket scientist. Seriously. I have to credit my passion for physical fitness in helping me graduate magna cum laude in Aerospace Engineering. I often found relief from the stresses of my demanding aviation career in long runs and bike rides, and I am sure the increased brain power that exercise provided was an integral part of my career successes.

I love living in Bend, OR where I am able to climb tall mountains, swim in blue lakes, bike dirty trails, and snowshoe through fluffy snow with my husband, son, and dog. I want you and your kids out doing the same! Read my blog. Ask me questions. Work out with me. Just be sure to grab your kids and get active!
